Personalized care for people dealing with radiating pain, sciatica, pinched-nerve symptoms and certain disc problems. We begin with a thorough examination to determine whether spinal decompression is appropriate for you.
A targeted approach
Spinal decompression is a gentle, computer-guided form of traction designed to create controlled stretching through specific areas of the spine. The goal is to reduce mechanical stress, improve movement and give irritated spinal structures a better environment for recovery.
At JP Chiropractic, decompression is never used as a one-size-fits-all treatment. Your doctor reviews your symptoms, health history and examination findings first. When clinically indicated, decompression may be combined with chiropractic care, mobility work and therapeutic exercise to address the broader cause of the problem.

Personalized treatment
We assess your movement, strength, reflexes, sensation and symptom pattern. Existing imaging is reviewed when relevant, and new imaging or referral is recommended only when clinically appropriate.
The table applies a gradual, controlled pull based on your condition, body size and tolerance. Settings can be adjusted throughout care so treatment remains comfortable.
We monitor changes in pain, mobility and daily function. Your plan may also include gentle adjustments, exercises, posture guidance or soft-tissue care when those services support your goals.
Is it right for you?
Decompression may be considered for certain patients with disc-related back or neck pain, sciatica, nerve irritation or persistent stiffness. A diagnosis alone does not determine candidacy; your symptoms, examination, medical history and treatment tolerance all matter.
Decompression is not appropriate for everyone. Pregnancy, recent spinal fracture, significant instability, certain surgical hardware, severe osteoporosis, infection, tumor and other medical conditions may require a different approach. We screen for contraindications and coordinate with other healthcare providers when needed.

Your first visit
We discuss when the problem began, what aggravates it, previous care and the activities you want to return to.
Your doctor performs a focused orthopedic and neurologic evaluation to identify likely pain sources and rule out concerns.
We explain what we found, whether decompression is a reasonable option and how progress will be measured.
Frequently asked questions
Treatment is designed to be gentle and controlled. We adjust the settings to your condition and tolerance, and you should tell us immediately if symptoms increase.
Visit length varies based on your care plan and whether decompression is combined with other services. We explain the expected schedule before treatment begins.
It may be considered when sciatica is related to a mechanical or disc problem. An examination is important because sciatica-like symptoms can have different causes.
Not every patient needs an MRI. We review your examination and any existing imaging, then recommend additional imaging only when clinically indicated.
