Electrical muscle stimulation is most useful when it supports an individualized plan rather than serving as a stand-alone treatment. At JP Chiropractic, we first ask how the discomfort began, what movements aggravate it, and how it affects sleep, work, exercise, or family activities. When appropriate, e-stim may help reduce muscle guarding or encourage controlled muscle activation so a patient can participate more comfortably in mobility work and therapeutic exercise.
We also review relevant health history before treatment. Patients should tell the doctor about implanted electronic devices, altered sensation, active skin irritation, pregnancy, recent procedures, and other medical concerns. If electrical stimulation is not appropriate, we explain other conservative options or recommend the right referral.

Adhesive pads are placed near the area being treated and the intensity is increased gradually. Most patients describe a comfortable tingling or gentle contraction.
